Pinta Energy UK Acquires Innovative AD Plant in Somerset

The team at Pinta Energy UK is delighted to announce our acquisition of Brains Farm Renewable Energy in Wincanton, Somerset, earlier this year; an exciting alternative energy production plant that processes organic materials to create renewable natural gas (RNG) for direct input into the UK’s gas network.
Known for driving positive change in the UK’s energy landscape through innovative anaerobic digestion, Brains Farm is a pioneering, rural AD plant producing 50GWh of gas annually by transforming organic materials into clean renewable energy, contributing to a greener, more sustainable future.
As such, this plant perfectly complements Pinta Energy UK’s overarching mission: to build a resilient, low-carbon gas infrastructure that strengthens energy security whilst delivering environmental and economic benefits to local homes, businesses and farms across the UK.
Michael Heenan, CEO of Pinta Energy UK commented on the acquisition:
“2026 has been a formative year for all of us here at Pinta Energy UK as we continue to work tirelessly toward our vision of a robust, low-carbon gas network that not only strengthens the UK’s energy security, but also bolsters local supply chains.
We’re delighted to have embarked on this new venture with Brains Farm Renewable Energy, and look forward to working closely with our new team members.”
As part of this milestone acquisition, Pinta Energy UK also has the opportunity to acquire a unique development project in the North East of England with a 100GWh capacity.
Pinta Energy UK are proudly owned by ABIO Energy and backed by Asterion Industrial Partners, delivering a common vision for a cleaner, secure energy future.
